Here are some of my training highlights. If you’d like to create a bespoke training for your organization around specific skills and learning outcomes, please feel free to choose your own adventure.

  • One or two day training to help editors with concept development, feedback, and substantive editing.

  • Build a strong core list to sustain your publishing. I will help you to create a sustainble backlist strategy to uplift sales through market insight, revision planning, pricing analysis, metadata reviews, and a marketing plan.

  • How do you go from a good idea to a bestselling book? Vision with the ability to plan every detail within a commercial context. I will provide your team with the tools and critical thinking to hone their vision. This could include mastering reader’s reports, acquisition prep and pitching, competive analysis, market insight, P&Ls, copywriting that sells, contracts & negotiation, cover and text designs, etc. (with and/or without Artificial Intelligence.)

  • I will provide an overview of current AI tools, best practices and the ethical considerations to implement it throughout the publishing pipeline with an emphasis on sustainability.

  • Publishing is a profit-driven business, which is why I believe that everyone in the business at every level and in every department, should have a clear understading of the P&L. I provide training on not only building a P&L but how to make it central to decision making.

  • I’m happy to work with you on bespoke training for your organization. I love teaching about book culture and the wider issues impacting the publishing industry, which give context and empower everyday decision making. Some of these topics include viewpoint diversity, censorship & cancel culture, ethics and IP in publishing, book clubs, and other related topics.
